summer cottage...TSTR #129

Welcome Monday!
Welcome to a new shabby challenge at The Shabby Tea Room. This week Starr is our hostess and she asks that we use:
                                       * COLOURS FROM THE PICTURE
                                       * DISTRESSING
                                       * SHABBY ELEMENTS
                                       * TITLE OR SENTIMENT

We are lucky again to have two wonderful sponsors in the Tea Room this week: Heather Hudson(Etsy) and Digital Papers By Janet (Etsy). I used Janet's Shabby Chic Banners 2 and Heather's Labels.

I wanted to use the Shabby Chic Banner in a different way to show you that you can use it for more than just banners and cards.. I used mine to decorate a cake slice box! It just so happens to be the perfect shape.. Had to trim it up a bit but it works beautifully and looks amazing!

I added some Distress Ink to my label and around my cake slice...some lacy goodness and satin flowers for a little shabby chic flair.

Such lovely papers to work with.. added some paper tape edging and tea stained twill tape, tied in a bow to help close the box..
Don't forget you could win some awesome prizes this week. From Janet: 3 collages - 1st prize, 2 collages - 2nd prize, 1 collage - 3rd prize
I"m off to pop by the rest of the design team to see what they have created.

popping by...

Well hello there!

Can you tell it's summertime? I've rather neglected my little blog these few months, other than my DT obligations. I've been soaking in all the sunshiny, long, warm summer days; swinging away in the hammock, catching up on some novels. Spending countless hours around the bonfire, chatting away with good friends til the wee hours of the morning. Ahhh. I love summer!

This summer my best friend became engaged, so I had to make a card to celebrate such a milestone! So many of my favourite things were used, and such love went into making this special for them.

I believe that there is someone out there for everyone, and when you find them it's such a magical time. Thus begins your life together, hence the 'Once Upon a Time' sentiment across the front of the card. Writing your love story day by day...

Thanks for sticking with me, random postings and all. I'm off to enjoy what last few days of summer we have, before fall is upon us. I can't wait!
Cheers!

shabby patterns...TSTR #128

Happy Monday everyone! It's time for a new challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room. Tammy is our hostess this week and she asks that we use:

                                                   *COLOURS FROM THE PHOTO
                                                   *INCLUDE FLOWERS
                                                   *INCLUDE A DAMASK PATTERN

We are doubly lucky to have two sponsors this week in the Tea Room: Creations by AR, and Debbie's new company, Paper Sweeties! You have the chance to win 2 templates from Creations by AR and a stamp set from Paper Sweeties! Are you ready to play???

 I got to create with the Library Pocket Set this week and decided to make a mini book. The template comes with two inserts; a tag and the library card. I chose to use the card for my creation. I cut it out of the same flowery damask paper I used on the pocket, and topped it with some sticky back embossed borders.

 All three pockets were made from a manilla file folder, and dressed up using bits and bobs.. The inserts will hold photos and I plan on writing on the backs as well!

Separated and held together with rings. The mini can also be easily expanded by making more sweet little pockets!

I hope you will join us this week and play along for some really great prizes! Check out the rest of the Shabby Girls to see what they got to play with this week!

for the love of books...TSTR #127

Hey there Tea Room fans!
Welcome to another brand new challenge at The Shabby Tea Room! This week I'm your host and I ask that you use:
                                   *COLOURS: PINK
                                                         CREAM
                                                         AQUA

                                   * BOOK PRINT or TEXT

Don't you just love that pic? I have a soft spot for old hard cover books...one of these days I'll have a library in my house. A girl can dream :)

Our sponsor this week is My Time Made Easy! I just love Lauren's templates...so versatile and endless possibilities! We got to play with the Trendy Tool Tote. It's fab! Play along with us and you have a chance to win one template, digi image and digi papers!

I decided to put together a little creative kit...and make it slightly shabby...and of course pink! It contains many little things to create something shabby; card bases, patterned paper, embellies and trims, bows and fabric rounds..

Made a shabby banner out of tags and paper scraps.. french book page rosettes...complete with double ribbons, a great cameo and button..

This was such an easy, great template to work with.. I can't wait to get crafty again!

Stop by the rest of the team blogs and leave some love for the Shabby Girls!

soft neutrals...TSTR #126

It's time for a new challenge at The Shabby Tea Room.. This week Lenet is our shabby hostess and she asks that we use
                                *THE NEUTRAL COLOURS IN THE PHOTO

We welcome back Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps as our sponsors this week! You have the chance to win 5 digi images!! Lets play! I used the Lily image this week.

 Love the soft, neural palette to chose from. I loved this challenge.. So soothing to mix creams, browns with tea dyed doilies, layer upon layer...Pure love! I printed the lily image onto some french vintage book pages and popped out the leaves(a little hard to tell in the photo) with dimensional foam.

Just showing the layers.. love the look of neutral on neutral!

Check out the rest of the Shabby Team and see what great things they created! Hope you'll join our challenge this week!
