when one door closes...

When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us. ~ Alexander Graham Bell #quote #saying #opportunity #regret #life

another opens...

This week marked my last week as part of TSTR design team. I was super sad to say goodbye, but super excited that I get to say HELLO to embarking on a new exciting journey as a part of a fab new team. I'm delighted to announce I've joined the Curtsey Boutique Design Team.
I was so surprised and tickled pink to see an email inviting me to the team by Carrie Ann... the super talented lady behind the store and the blog...
Handmade embellies soooo beautiful, packaging and lots of other goodies, take a peek around the shop and drink it all in and let it inspire you! I'll be sharing my creations with you all starting in October, so watch this space:)

Be sure to check out the announcement *here*

Happy dancing,

october...

If you've been hanging around here for a while, you'll know how much I love Fall, Thanksgiving and Halloween. Generally this time of year puts me in the best moods... its the sunshine, the gentle breezes, that crispness...Today is no exception... the weather is perfect. I wish I could bottle this feeling... the ambiance... just freeze time and savour this day...

Halloween has to be my most favourite holiday other than Christmas. Scary movies, creepy decor... trick-or-treaters... I love it all. Halloween crafts put me in just as good a mood as the weather... I often wonder why Halloween cards aren't as popular. They are a dream to make, and a perfect reason to get to use black paper and orange. Something I rarely do except for this time of year. Skull and cross bones, witches and black cats, pumpkins and bats... add some pretty bows and glitter and sky's the limit for creating...

Another card from my Halloween house box... holding my Halloween treats and what not... Crafty Secrets papers used here again from the Creating with Vintage Halloween CD and the 2013 free printable calendar... I'm loving the orange and blacks..

And before I go:
yes!
I couldn't have said it better...

time flies... TSTR #183.

It's hard to believe a year flew by so quickly. Today marks the last Shabby Tea Room post for me! 77 challenges later... so many great weeks working along side some of the sweetest people in blog land. This week I am you host and for my final TSTR challenge I chose a theme of "Time Flies" I ask that you create a card/projects using:

*A CLOCK image some where in your creation:)

Our sponsor this week is Janet's Paper(etsy) and we are using the "Your Time" collage today. Play along and you could win some of your own digital collages from Janet's shop.

I thought that a Thank you card was a great way to end my DT term. I'd like to wish the new DT the best and say a fond farewell to my fellow TSTR design team members. I'd like to thank Debbie for the opportunity to be a part of her team. She is the sweetest, most caring and understanding person to work for:) She makes the Tea Room a great place to create and share. So, Thank You Debbie, for being you and for the past year!

seasons change...

Summer is taking its time leaving around here. Not that I'm complaining... there are subtle hints of Fall though... and I'm loving that too. Soft breezes with a slight cool in the air... the changing of the searing summer sun to a more gentle glow... leaves turning yellow; soon to give way to those gorgeous oranges, reds and browns I associate with Fall... it's a bitter sweet changing of the seasons... thank goodness my favourite seasons follow each other so closely.

A whirlwind of events to the end of summer... wedding over and done with... family here and now gone all too quickly. Anticipating a few more bonfires with dear friends who have become like family to us... shopping for a new wardrobe full of boots, pretty chunky sweaters and scarves... comfort foods and tasty drinks; home made chai lattes, London fog's with our favourite Earl Grey tea. Another reminder of a dear friend from the west coast.

Savouring the few hot days we have left. Getting to the lake and a quiet retreat to a friend's cabin... such a lovely weekend to recover from the stress of wedding planning and all that comes with it.  Relaxing in our new favourite spot; a backyard deck built with my guy's very able and talented hands... a cozy outdoor living space. A happy puppy to take for walks in the neighbourhood to drink in the changing scenery and season.

Crafty projects reflecting the changing season... a pretty paper pumpkin with Crafty Secrets Vintage Halloween CD... such great printable papers... all used here in varying patterns and colours. Some twine and leaves.. and a small wooden creature to complete the card. This could be used for Thanksgiving or Halloween... your choice.

Thanks for the visit!

halloween house...Crafty Secrets September Linky Party.

For this month's Crafty Secrets Linky Party I've gone with a Halloween theme and decorated a paper house using CD 4 - Creating with Vintage Halloween papers and Halloween Images and Journal Notes. The DT are sharing tutorials on all of their blogs today. Join us by creating something using Crafty Secrets products and link it up on the blog HERE to win a fabulous gift certificate to use at the Crafty Vintage Girl store.

First I started off with a paper house from Michaels. I covered it in a vintage white paint and once that was dry I added a layer of white glue and waited until it was just set but still tacky and painted over another layer of white to create a crackle finish.

Distress ink the sides to add some colour and then cut out all of the pieces for your house. I chose to use two different patterned papers but use what you wish. I had to make a template out of my pieces for another time.

Once I had covered the roof with the spiderwebs paper to make my little window opening I used a triangle cut almost all the way in half and then curled up the sides to make it look like a window. You could have almost anything peeking out of the attic.

After all the panels are done I picked a couple great images from the Halloween Images and Journal notes and secured them with photo corners so I can change out the images as I wish.

Final touches include glittered buttons and some pumpkin alpha`s from the Halloween Vintage stickers to make a banner out of scraps of the papers for the house. My door is actually one of the tags from the Halloween tags paper, with an added black button.

And my final photo I promise... all decked out to hold my handmade Halloween cards which I`ll be sharing through out the week.

Make sure to play along with us this week. Every entry will get you a $6.00 gift card and the winner will win a $50 gift certificate to use in the store. Check out the rest of the DT are sharing this week:
